Headspace, 2009
A carved salt self portrait sits just above the waterline. The hydrosopic nature of the salt draws the water into the form and subsequently releases it from its base when the saturation point is reached. The surface of the head slowly becomes wet and then dry again. Movements of air within the space and vibrations from the viewer’s footsteps are registered by reflections cast simultaneously on the floor and ceiling.
